One highlight

The launch held up. After the sprint to ship in week 22, this week was about watching it run — and it ran clean. No major issues or bugs surfaced, traffic started coming in on the new feature, and applications are flowing through. A good feeling after three months of work.

Work

The feature we launched is getting real usage — lots of applications coming through and we’re processing them. Most of my week went into the follow-up workstream: compensating freelancers who signed up through the project. I was effectively running this single-handedly — a big chunk of work that required thinking across multiple teams and stakeholders. All the changes are merged now, and we’re ready to launch the second set of features on this project. Excited for that.

Fitness

Hit the five-session target I set last week: four gym days and a hike on Sunday on a trail near the city, which was a nice change of pace. Next week is the same goal — five days — and I’m also trying to push session length up. Right now I’m somewhere around 45–60 minutes; aiming for closer to an hour and fifteen.

Tech & learning

Quiet week on side projects. Didn’t touch the new game at all — hoping to get back to it next week.

On Playscrawl , I’m seeing reliability issues — the frontend and database aren’t resilient enough, and users aren’t always getting updates. Rewriting it to use Firebase Realtime Database. Curious to see how it holds up once that’s in place.

On the learning front, spent time refreshing Java. The work project involves a lot of it, and I’ve also been practicing from an old project on the side — a good way to get back into the language.

Read / watched / listened to

  • Influence by Robert Cialdini — still going. Practical, fun, and very engaging. Taking my time with it.

What’s next

Make progress on both side projects — the game and the Playscrawl rewrite. On fitness, keep the five-day streak going and push session length toward 75 minutes. At work, the second feature set is ready to go — looking forward to shipping that.
