One highlight

Shipped the second set of features on the work project — and I owned the orchestrator end to end. Consuming events from the contract-closure services, processing them, and wiring up payments, Connect, and the monetization platform to grant connects and promo codes to freelancers. Touched email and dashboard messaging to communicate it all. Very satisfying week of work.

Work

Launched the second feature set. Most of my time went into the orchestrator: consuming events from services that handle contract closure and processing those events downstream. That meant touching payments, Connect, and the monetization platform to grant connects and promo codes to freelancers — plus email and dash messaging to communicate the changes. All came together cleanly.

The upcoming week looks light. We’re figuring out what to tackle next, and I’ll be supporting the launched project by helping Ops and Analytics.

Fitness

Three sessions this week — two gym days and a hike on Sunday. I’m really enjoying the Sunday hike to Nandi Hills. The weather is excellent this time of year, and I’ll probably do it again soon.

Tech & learning

Launched Ludo Khele with multiplayer — the game I’ve been building is finally playable with others.

Migrated Playscrawl to Firebase Realtime Database. I’d been using Cloudflare Worker KV with WebSockets, and it wasn’t reliable enough. Hoping this holds up better.

Did more SQL practice on sql-practice.online — still chipping away at getting sharper there.

Read a few chapters of Computer Systems: A Programmer’s Perspective. This week was assembly, what compilers actually do, x86 architecture, and a bunch of other fundamentals. Slow going, but useful — trying to understand how computers actually work under the hood.

Read / watched / listened to

  • Influence by Robert Cialdini — still going. Taking my time with it.

What’s next

Parents and my brother are visiting this week — looking forward to some family time. We’re also planning a one-week workation from Wayanad.
